This is a Runner From Hell event!
This is the 11th year of the South Carolina version of the Fat Ass 50. Here you can run in the coastal communities of historic Charleston and Mt. Pleasant as well as the nearby beaches of Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms. We continue to run on the original course over the new bridge. This year’s run will feature the 50K event only.
The course is pretty flat, however a few elevations can be found on the New Ravenel Cooper River Bridge (190 ft), the Ben Sawyer Bridge (35 ft), Isle of Palms Connector (70 ft), and Mt. Pleasant (13 ft). Starting in Mt. Pleasant, the race will go out to the Charleston "Battery", back to Mt. Pleasant, then to Sullivan's Island, the Isle of Palms (approximately 4 miles beach surface) before returning to Mt. Pleasant on the Isle of Palms Connector (hard concrete).
Date: Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 6:30 am SUNDAY!
Start: Mt. Pleasant, S.C. (old village area, past Shem Creek) Near Alex's Restaurant at 302 Coleman Blvd. Parking at Moultrie Plaza Shopping Center, 2 blocks away.
Finish: Highway 517 at Sea Side farms Shopping Center. You will need your own transportation back to the start (approximately 4 miles) or wait until the run director eventually provides a ride. Restaurants and food are available nearby.

Awards: None
Aid: None. Really, NONE..Most runners will bring their own support crews. In Fat Ass spirit, I hope these crews will offer support to runners without crews. Numerous convenience stores and restaurants will also be passed.
